The following tells the story of how a simple idea to combine kitchen gadgets turned into a worldwide kitchen phenomenon. Whether you’re new to the Instant Pot or already part of the fan club, it’s clear this kitchen tool is here to stay.
History of the Instant Pot
The Instant Pot pressure cooker didn’t just sneak onto the kitchen scene, it’s more like that unassuming guest at a party who suddenly becomes the life of it. The story kicks off in 2009 when Robert Wang, a Canadian software engineer, found himself in a familiar struggle: too many kitchen gadgets, not enough time. Like most of us, he was juggling a slow cooker, rice cooker, and pressure cooker while still struggling to make mealtime easier. Frustrated, he had a lightbulb moment. Instead of relying on all these appliances, why not create one that could do everything? And with that, the Instant Pot was born.
A Slow Start: The Instant Pot’s Quiet Debut
When the Instant Pot hit the shelves in 2010, it didn’t exactly cause a frenzy. People overlooked it, thinking it was just another kitchen gadget destined for the back of the cupboard. But Robert Wang wasn’t discouraged. He knew his invention was something special, so he tapped into his tech background to build a loyal fanbase. Slowly but surely, he used online communities and early Amazon reviews to get the word out. It wasn’t an instant hit, but Wang’s persistence paid off.
The Social Media Spark: Instant Pot’s Rise to Fame
Things took a wild turn when Instant Pot users discovered how versatile this little machine was. It wasn’t long before Facebook groups dedicated to the Instant Pot began to pop up, filled with users sharing recipes, tips, and raving about how the device was saving them time, money, and kitchen space. Cooking enthusiasts, busy parents, and everyone in between jumped on the bandwagon. Suddenly, word was spreading like wildfire, and the Instant Pot was everywhere.
This once overlooked gadget was quickly gaining a cult following, and it was only a matter of time before the rest of the world caught on.
From Niche to Must-Have: The Instant Pot Boom
By 2016, the Instant Pot had gone from “What’s that?” to “I need that!” practically overnight. It became one of the hottest items on Amazon, especially during Black Friday and Prime Day, selling out faster than you could say “pressure cook.” The reason? This kitchen wizard could do everything: it pressure cooked, slow cooked, sautéed, steamed, and even made yogurt. It was an all-in-one dream machine, replacing multiple appliances and giving families back valuable time they’d normally spend prepping and cooking. It wasn’t just a trend; it was a kitchen revolution.
The Instant Pot Effect: A Kitchen Revolution in Full Swing
Today, the Instant Pot is more than just a gadget; it’s a way of life for millions of home cooks. Whether you’re a busy parent trying to whip up a quick meal after work, a meal-prepper who likes to batch cook for the week, or someone who just wants a hassle-free way to get dinner on the table, the Instant Pot delivers.
What started as a niche product has grown into an absolute kitchen essential, with new models and features constantly rolling out. It’s hard to imagine a kitchen without one. The Instant Pot hasn’t just changed how people cook. It’s changed how they live. And honestly, the kitchen hasn’t been the same since.
Instant Pot Recipes & More, will be a very diverse and unusual collection of recipes. I love my Instant Pot to the point I freaked the console out on one. So, here is my story!
The Instant Pot Freak Out
When I say “freaking out” the pot would start a programmed setting, and I would cancel it. The pot would start, again. I would cancel it, and of course, the pot would start, again! I am three strikes and your out girl and no I am not into anything baseball higher than little league at this time. Anyway, I would unplug the Instant Pot after the third go around!! This went on for about 6 months before it started affecting my cooking. The crazy pot started turning itself Off!! That is what I said! Off! I would set it and turn around, it would turn itself off. I would reset it and yes it would shut itself off. When it got to where it wouldn’t stay on the second time I set it I started begging Santa for a new Instant Pot! Let me tell you it Worked!! I got two Instant Pots for Christmas last year!
Alright! Alright! I will quit doing a “Victory Dance” in my head and get down to the recipes!
